Ukai ( cormorant fishing ) in Arashiyama, Kyoto

Ukai is a traditional Japanese fishing method dating back to the Heian period (794-1185), in which boats are rowed out on a river at night, and cormorants are used to catch fish attracted to fires and drumming sounds produced by the fishermen.
Date : July 1 to September 15.
Time : 7:00pm - 9:00pm on July 1 to August 31; 6:30pm - 8:30pm on September 1 to September 15.
Price is 1,700 JPY per adult
No operated on rain day, strong windy day.

Arashiyama is very beautiful area. Be sure to visit Tenryuji temple, a world heritage sight with a famous garden and the Bamboo forest.
